“Dr. Luecke has been involved with the St. Louis CAPS program since 2015, serving as the program point-of-contact for Affton High School. He has supported various aspects of the program from his assistant principal position and is familiar with current processes, procedures, practices, and personnel,” said Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent. “STL CAPS is projected to grow for the fifth year in a row, and I look forward to Dr. Luecke’s support of students, staff, parents, and business partners during this exciting time.”

Luecke has served as an assistant principal for Affton High School since 2014. For six years prior, he served as an assistant principal at McCluer South-Berkeley High School and McCluer High School.

“I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to serve as the Director of STL CAPS. I have been involved with the program since its inception as Affton Advanced Professional Studies (A@PS) and have watched student and school district interest increase due to the collective efforts of Dr. Bracht, the program strand instructors, and the business partners,” said Luecke. “I am excited for the chance to promote and grow STL CAPS, to continue to support our instructors and business partners, and to seek new avenues to enhance the experience for our students.”

In addition to his administrative experience, Luecke taught English language arts and journalism at the high school level for seven years. He earned a bachelor of arts in English, a bachelor of science in secondary education and a master of education in educational administration at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo.

Luecke and his wife, Melissa, live in the St. Louis area. They have three children, Ellen, Anderson, and Nicholas.

Luecke will begin serving as Director of STL CAPS on July 1. Also effective July 1, David Gillean, will begin serving as the assistant principal of Affton High School.
