Dr. Bracht Discusses Workforce Development with GovernorLast week, Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent, was invited to speak with Governor Mike Parson as part of a roundtable discussion prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Microsoft Technology Center in the Cortex District.

He was specifically asked to talk about how the St. Louis CAPS program has created new opportunities for students and strengthened workforce development by working directly with business and industry partners. Affton started the St. Louis CAPS program during the 2015-2016 school year and there are currently 8 districts and 10 high schools that participate in the program.

"When it comes to school districts supporting workforce development, it is important to have a variety of options for students. We know that one program will not be the right fit for all students," said Bracht. "St. Louis CAPS is just one of many career and college readiness options Affton offers. Just as we aspire to have 100% of our graduates career and college ready, we must also strive to ensure that each graduate has a meaningful and impactful career-related experience."

Next month, St. Louis will host the Workforce 2030 Conference sponsored by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Bracht has also been invited to participate in a panel discussion at that event.
